Over fifteen years ago, we decided to get a non- shedding dog. I wanted a dog that could be everywhere in our family home without the shedding factor. We had previously owned German Shephards, Karelian Bear Dogs, Maltese and a SPCA Rescue.
I didn't want a small dog because of our two boys. Our oldest son has Cerebral-Palsy, Cognitive Delay and Visual impairment.
Our youngest son has ADHD and a Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder.
We enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle of camping, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. We wanted a dog that could accompany us. During the winter months, Besides dog training- we enjoy hanging out and watching movies. We wanted an active dog that likes couch snuggles too.
I basically googled, "The perfect family dog".
A "Goldendoodle" was the result.
I loved the look of the shaggy looking first Goldendoodle cross. However, first crosses still tend to shed. I wasn't particularily fond of the curly look of the F1B Goldendoodle. After much research and browsing many Goldendoodle websites, I found, purchased and imported Jazimine into BC from Missouri, USA.
Jazimine was a 45 lb F2B Goldendoodle. (They used to use this filial label for a puppy from and F1XF!B cross) We happened to be at the right place at the right time and found Shaggy. Shaggy was a 52 lb F1B Goldendoodle. Although, I wasn't initially fond of the curlier wavy look,
I fell in love with Shaggy's loving affable personality instantly. Jazimine and Shaggy purposely had three beautiful
healthy litters. I retained a puppy from their final litter. Maddison. She was a replica of her daddy with the gentle disposition of her mama, Jazi. We acquired a handsome chocolate F1B Goldendoodle male from North Carolina for her mate, Joe.
Although, I have raised puppies prior to Goldendoodles, I am continually educating myself to help better the breed. I am always striving to provide you with a healthy and well adjusted puppy to complete your family. Being a competent breeder isn't a business, but a passion of mine!
I am proud to be the first breeder in Western Canada accredited with the Goldendoodle Association Of North America. I had always wanted a puppy or dog registered with the Goldendoodle Association Of North America(GANA). I made it my goal to create them. All of my Parents are registered with GANA and health tested to Blue Ribbon Standards prior to breeding. I am proud to work with GANA and help
mentor other breeders practice responsible and ethical breeding practices.
Only Parents with sound temperaments are selected for breeding. Dogs are genetically tested and structurally tested through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals: Hips, Elbows, Heart & CAER {Eyes}.
Parents live inside our home not in a Kennel. Goldendoodle puppies live their first crucial eight weeks in a loving, safe, and clean environment as part of our family.
They are raised using world renowned protocols and puppy rearing standards of " Puppy Culture, Avi Dog and BAB.
Some folk have swear jars, I have " I have not spoken about dogs, (science, genetics, breeding) jars! I am a total dog nerd.
After Mom and puppies are thriving, I start the puppies on Day 3 with a technique called ENS, "Early Neurological Stimulation" and ESI, " Early Scent Introduction" for two weeks during their neonatal period.
As puppies enter their transitional stage, learning to hear, walk and see and play, they are
are started on litter/paper training,
As puppies enter their Socialization Period, Emotional Resiliency Exercises, Problem Solving & Prevention.
Puppies start to learn basic skills, for example: introduced to crate training, introduced to clicker training, introduced to potty training, learning not to jump, to sit for attention and even more.
We provide puppies with an advanced healthy foundation for continuing their stages of development with you.
I believe it's important to be a part of your puppy's life during the first eight weeks.
I have provided a safe private community to share daily videos and weekly photos of your puppy.
Check out Bren's Doodles Page on Facebook. I have a private puppy group called " Bren's Doodles Families" just for our Puppy Pawrents and friends.
Basic Doodle Genetics:
Purebred Golden Retriever + Purebred Poodle= F1 Goldendoodle (First Cross)
F1+Purebred Poodle= F1B (B=Backcross)
F1+F1B= "The Original F2B" Jazimine, now known as simply a Multigenerational.
Anything beyond an F1B is a Multigenerational Goldendoodle.
I prefer to health test & genetically test coat and colour traits rather than use filial labels.
Our females are fed a nutritional diet with added toppers all year round. They are supplemented with vitamins prior to pregnancy. TLC Puppy Food is added to their diet during the Second Trimester. Once birth is given, an organic canned food along with puppy kibble, goat’s milk, wild & organic meats, homemade pudding etc. Extra protein and hydration are required to feed large litters.
The Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA) is the first and only breed club established for the Goldendoodle. GANA's primary objective is to promote and guide the development of the Goldendoodle to achieve breed standards while maintaining optimum health. A Code of Ethics and Accredited Breeder Rules and Requirements have been created to assure that the common goal of the betterment of the breed is followed by all breed members.
